Mariscal Sucre International Airport (IATA: UIO, ICAO: SEQM), is the main and busiest international airport serving Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. It is one of the busiest airports in Latin America. 


It begin operations in February 2013, replacing the old Mariscal Sucre International Airport. It has received several awards: Only in 2018 Quito Airport has been established as the Leader Airport in South America by World Travel Awards. The airport is located in Tababela, 18 km (11 miles) east of Quito, and it is a hub for Avianca Ecuador and LATAM Ecuador.

About the name: Quito Airport is named after the Venezuelan independence leader Antonio José de Sucre.

In 2019, Quito Airport (UIO) handled 5.037.650 passengers. 

In 2020, passengers decreased to 1.521.680 due to coronavirus.

    About Quito
