João Paulo II Airport (IATA: PDL, ICAO: LPPD), also known as Ponta Delgada Airport, is the main international airport of the Azores archipelago, an autonomous region in Portugal located in the Atlantic Ocean comprised of nine islands.


Ponta Delgada Airport is located 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) west of downtown Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel.

PDL Airport is named after the former Pope John Paul II to honour its visit in 1991.

About Ponta Delgada
